IPAQ 1900 series case review

I recently 'downsized' my IPAQ to a 1940 and as it doesn't ship with a case I started to look at the options available. This review looks at 3 different cases which will fit all IPAQ 19xx series machines. There are 2 cases from Proporta, a leather and a aluminium one as well as a leather case from Belkin.

As you can see all the cases add size to the 1940, and not all allow access to reset button.

Proporta Aluminium Case - £24.95

The Proporta iPAQ 1900 series aluminium case is small, light, stylish and looks great. It is made from 100% aircraft-grade aluminium, it follows the tried-and-tested design of the previous aluminium case I reviewed. The inside of the case is lined with neoprene to protect your ipaq from bumps and bangs and is spring loaded to ensure the ipaq is held firm. The cut aways give in-case access to all functions of the IPAQ including stylus, microphone, infrared port, charging port and stereo jack. They have even cut away the neoprene around the buttons to ensure buttons are not accidently pressed whilst the ipaq is in the case. It does not however allow access to the reset button and the IPAQ must be removed from the case in order to be reset.

Proporta Leather Case - £19.95

The Proporta leather case is custom designed to fit the iPAQ, and has a nice soft brushed interior. The case has space for credit, business and memory cards and features a secure attachment system to hold your iPAQ in place. It allows access to all the buttons, the charging port and the reset port. The case is closed by a single magnetic push button attachment

Belkin Leather Flip Case for HP iPAQ h1910 & h1940 - $24.99

The Belkin Leather flip Case was the first case I bought and although it is one of the slimmest cases around, the swivel belt clip sticks out around a cm and as it's not something I use I don't tend to use this case. I also found that the 1940 didn't seem to fit exactly into the bottom section of the case, which made it difficult to plug in my USB sync cable. The case allows access to all the ports and include a hole for the reset button! The front cover is reinforced to futher protect the screen and has four clear plastic SC card holders inside the front cover, as well as space for business and/or credit cards. It comes with a Belkin Lifetime Warranty.

Conclusion

So which case do I use day to day? The Proporta aluminium one.

Why? Because it offers great protection in case you drop your IPAQ and is also small and light without adding much size to the IPAQ.

Any downsides? If I was being very critical I'd say it does add to the overall size of the unit, if someone could make a protective cover that added hardly any size to the IPAQ that would be my ultimate case
